What will your day look like?

As the Technical Architect Manager, you will play a crucial role in our Technology and Data capability. This role requires a blend of technical expertise required to deliver as an Individual Contributor (IC), leadership skills to manage a team of alike ICs, and a commitment to personal development. You will combine your leadership expertise with your technical skills, ensuring the successful delivery of marketing automation solutions.

As a Team manager in VML MAP you will stay relevant and impactful as an IC (helping you maintain current and relevant technical skills and experience) while having the scope to build and maintain a team and technical practice - leading by example.

It is essential for this role to actively engage in face-to-face interactions to build camaraderie, trust, and a strong community. Share knowledge, collaborate, and spark innovation through in-person teamwork at our Toronto office.

More specifically, your tasks include:

Team Leadership and Management

• Lead a team of architects, developers, and technical consultants, ensuring high performance, collaboration, and achievement of client objectives.
• Set performance targets for the team, conduct evaluations, and offer constructive feedback.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance team productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Manage team utilization, vacation plans, time approvals, and expenses.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Individual Contributor Responsibilities

• Implementing the architecture in corporation with the project team, using agile methodologies like Scrum
• Working out which solution to use based on cost-benefit analysis and research
• Explaining to designers and developers what's required and overseeing the progress
• Providing feedback, summary, and information about your projects, agreeing plans with the client and breaking down large-scale projects into manageable chunks.

You will be a key leader within a highly skilled and dynamic team of 100+ colleagues, working closely with Salesforce Marketing Cloud architects, developers, technical project managers, account teams, and clients. You’ll be at the heart of a challenging yet rewarding professional environment, where your leadership and technical expertise will directly impact both team success and client satisfaction.

What do you bring to the table?

As a person, you are an enthusiastic leader who can balance the responsibility of managing a team while staying hands-on with complex technical solutions. You are experienced in leading a diverse technical team, providing mentorship, and ensuring that your team delivers high-quality solutions on time. You also possess extensive technical knowledge in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, as well as other relevant technologies like SQL, XML, JSON, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

In addition, it is essential that you have:

• 5+ years of experience as a Salesforce Marketing Cloud architect or consultant, with a proven track record in delivering client-based projects.
• Experience in leading a team of technical professionals and managing performance; the to manage conflicts in a constructive manner.
•  Ability to effectively delegate tasks to team members.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients and stakeholders.
• A deep understanding of database design, modelling, and workflow engines.
• Growth Mindset: Curiosity to learn, knowledge sharing, customer-centricity, taking ownership of growth.
