Remote
Full-time

Whether they’re building great payment software or collaborating with a client, every CardFlight employee is committed to empowering small businesses to accept electronic payments with ease. Our team works primarily remote in over 25 US states with the ability to work in any US state and is passionate about delivering easy to use software to help small businesses accept payments from their customers. Joining our team means that you will be part of a fast-moving company, work collaboratively with others, and have a direct impact on making payments simpler for small businesses.

We’re seeking a QA Engineer who will be key on our United States location-neutral team. You will have the opportunity to unlock new ideas and solutions for our products. You will solve problems in CardFlight’s applications leveraging our quality tools (Playwright, TestRail, Jira) supporting our  web stack (built on top of Ruby on Rails), the web front-end (javascript library called Preact, which is a lightweight version of React), iOS application (Swift with some legacy Objective C), Android application, (Kotlin, with both mobile platforms employing a MVVM architecture) DevOps infrastructure is built on AWS, and CI/CD are handled via github actions. In this role, we also value an extreme bias towards accuracy, pragmatism to demand perfection without being a gatekeeper preventing action and the ability to operate in high-trust/high-ownership environments like transaction processing.

The position is US location-neutral remote, with opportunities to get together as a company and team throughout the year.

What You’ll Do

Ensure Engineering Ships Quality Software

  • Identify and remediate tool and process improvements for Software Quality Engineering within CardFlight’s Engineering practice
  • Create, maintain, and execute both manual and automated tests that allow others in the company to make decisions with regard to product quality
  • Participate as a member of a team of engineers, helping your team to identify risks early and determine appropriate test approaches
  • By a significant contributor in CardFlight’s transformation to an organization that leads with automated testing.
  • Mentor others on automated & manual testing practices, both within QA and across teams
  • Strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing practice by applying critical thinking and logic to your selection of test scenarios
  • Combine your expertise in technical testing skills with a thorough understanding of our platforms and applications to facilitate faster software delivery

Promote Quality across the Organization

  • Assist operations by replicating the behaviors of potential production bugs to communicate with engineering effectively
  • Have a passion for learning, continuously trying to gain new insights, and incorporating new ideas into your work
  • Drive a quality culture, preventing defects as much as detecting their existence
  • Advocate for quality improvements across the organization

Team Engagement

  • Get involved with company-wide meetings and outings
  • Become immersed in the payments industry
  • Obtain and maintain a full understanding of our client's needs

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • 3+ years of QA and testing experience
  • Automated testing experience with more than one tool
  • A desire to explore and create automated test scripts
  • An ability to help design and implement new solutions while also performing hands-on testing and quality functions
  • An ability to effectively handle problems and challenges
  • Perfectionist instincts and the ability to apply them pragmatically, consistent with the demands for accuracy inherent in being a company that processes financial transactions
  • The ability to operate in high-trust/high-ownership environments like transaction processing

Why You'll Love Being A Part Of Our CardFlight Team

  • US location-neutral work environment
  • Home-office equipment stipend
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Employee Engagement (Lunch & Learns, team building events)
