Hanover is looking for a Consultant (Account Manager equivalent) to join the Corporate Communications team.
Our mission is to provide reputation and issues and crisis management advice with ‘uncommon sense’ to corporate customers in an uncertain world.
The successful candidate will join a team of bright consultants who know their stuff and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. Your ideas will be backed by data and research, which we put at the core of our problem-solving, while using analytics to uncover insights that lead to winning strategies.
You’ll work with blue chip clients across a number of sectors, including financial services, international affairs, food & drink, energy & natural resources and TMT (technology, media and telecoms).
Requirements
- Develop close client relationships with clients and contribute appropriately in regular face-to-face meetings.
- Deliver media contact programmes, including attending and supporting meetings between clients and journalists.
- Demonstrate high quality journalist contacts within key media targets.
- Demonstrate an active and ever-expanding new business network, identify opportunities to cross-sell services between Hanover teams and offices.
- Contribute to new business development, including pitching to prospective clients.
- Support the delivery of the Corporate team’s marketing activity to grow awareness of our offering in the market.
- Play an important role in delivering outstanding client work on multiple accounts – including participating actively in internal team meetings and recommending how to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate threats – working with colleagues across our teams in London and internationally.
- Support junior colleagues, helping to mentor and develop talent from within the team.
- Promoting the strong reputation of Hanover in the industry by attending networking events.
Skills and Experience
- Expert knowledge and experience of working in UK media environments.
- Excellent writing and telephone skills – proven ability at ‘selling in’ to journalists.
- Prior experience within a consultancy or in-house PR/communications team, preferably within financial services, international affairs, food & drink, energy & natural resources or TMT.
- Experience in advising clients in crisis situations and managing potentially negative issues.
- Good understanding of UK PR industry with strong media contacts (particularly on national titles and with broadcasters).
- Experience working on new business opportunities, including pitching to prospects.
- Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines, strong organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and creative writing skills.
- Very strong team-working, collaboration and interpersonal skills. This extends across other teams in our London office, as well as those in other markets.
- A positive “can do” attitude, with an appetite to learn and progress in the industry.
