THE ROLE

Working alongside other team members, the Data Analyst provides data integration, reporting, and decision support functions. This position triages, assesses, identifies, and anticipates information and reporting requirements. The Data Analyst develops, maintains, and documents automated applications and reports to produce accurate, relevant, and timely information for internal and external customer end-users.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Be an organizational subject matter expert on business data and information analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization’s data and information strategy.
  • Operate data analysis and visualization platforms; create informative and actionable dashboards and reports for various business teams and individuals.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement data and analytical solutions for business problems and to solve business needs. 
  • Analyze, query, and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures.
  • Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems while developing process improvements to enhance overall quality, efficiency, and business value.
  • Elevate and optimize reporting capabilities to be more robust and encourage self-directed data discovery.
  • Partner with business and technical team members to identify and resolve the root cause of data quality, consistency, and completeness issues and limitations.
  • Develop and execute data governance and hygiene standard operating procedure. 
  • Resolve internal data exceptions in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Regularly audit and review existing data systems and processes, and deliver recommendations for improvements and long-term solutions to data quality challenges and opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with Finance, Income Tracking, Rights Management, Marketing, and Engineering on data source and collection needs to ensure that information and reporting requirements and opportunities are met.
  • Contribute to automation of data loading, transformation, and reporting.
  • Address the company’s data needs across two distinct team categories:
    • Revenue (income tracking, royalties, accounting, finance).
    • Operations (creative, licensing, copyright, operations, marketing/sales).
  • Identify third-party sources and assist with integration and utilization of these sources.
  • Perform ongoing analysis and reporting of key business metrics, including client growth, catalog growth, market activity, and marketing and sales performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required. Occasional night and weekend work is required.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Subject matter expertise in music business administration and publishing administration 
  • Google productivity tools
  • Web concepts and best practices, including Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Standard software development tools (e.g. software development languages and IDE’s, as well as testing, revision control, and project management tools)
  • Commercially-available business intelligence technologies, such as Snowflake and Metabase
  • SQL
  • Data Build Tool (DBT)
  • Database query optimization techniques
  • Relational and dimensional database design
  • Coding, unit testing, and code review phases of project life cycle

Downtown provides base salary ranges for all positions located in the United States at the time of posting. The hiring range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon various factors including, but not limited to, work experience, geographic location and relevant skills. Downtown is committed to providing a comprehensive market-competitive total rewards program for its employees which includes medical, dental, and vision, life insurance, 401(k) match and generous paid time off. This range does not include any other variable compensation components.
