What We’re Looking For:
As an Engineer III at 2U Inc., you will play a pivotal role in leading the development of complex components within our software products. You will take initiative in problem-solving, effectively troubleshooting and resolving issues even when they are not well-defined. Your leadership will be evident as you drive multi-sprint work on various software products, focusing on delivering business value while reducing uncertainty. Additionally, you will lead technical design efforts, contribute to process improvements, and actively participate in community initiatives and discussions.
As a member of this agile team, you will work independently on major software, complex components as well as participate collaboratively toward any team project work.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Lead the design and implementation of new projects that span across multiple software components and systems, focusing on delivering business value and reducing uncertainty.
- Write maintainable high-performance code, refactoring to keep code maintainable, conducting exploratory and automated testing, debugging complex problems under time constraints, running deployment software to put code on production.
- Advocate for end user needs in software development, collaborating with product managers to define and refine requirements, planning and estimating development tasks and short-term projects.
- Proactively solve problems and effectively troubleshoot issues, even when they are not well-defined.
- Thoughtfully consider priorities, making well-reasoned and well-documented design decisions and trade-offs for squad or team.
- Should be flexible to solve customer issues/production issues according to urgency.
- Collaborate with product management to define technical requirements and priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement in coding practices, tools, and processes.
- Conduct performance optimization and code refactoring as necessary.
- Work in unfamiliar areas of the codebase with guidance, leading technical design efforts for features and considering infrastructure cost implications.
- Contribute to the technical development of colleagues.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to other team-members.
