Job Overview: The Scanning Operations Engineer (Software Engineer) will be responsible for monitoring and managing vulnerability scans for both existing and new lead customers, ensuring that scans are completed accurately and on time. You will work closely with the R&D team to ensure that new vulnerability detections are incorporated into scanning processes and act as the main point of contact for internal support teams and stakeholders. You will ensure that customer-specific requirements, including scanning scope, infrastructure, and velocity, are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scan Monitoring & Management: Monitor active vulnerability scans for customers, ensuring scans are completed successfully and meet customer requirements.
- Accuracy & Quality Assurance: Verify scan results for accuracy, ensuring that they reflect the latest vulnerability detections developed by the R&D team.
- Customer Interaction: Serve as a point of contact for customer support and stakeholders, managing requests related to scanning targets, scan velocity, and specific infrastructure requirements.
- Automation & Workflow: Maintain and enhance scanning automation workflows to improve efficiency and ensure accurate detection of vulnerabilities.
- Incident Response: Troubleshoot and resolve scanning issues promptly, coordinating with development and R&D teams as needed.
- Process Improvement: Continuously monitor the performance of scanning operations and suggest improvements for greater efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure that scanning operations comply with customer requirements and industry standards, and provide regular reports on scanning activity, progress, and results.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with R&D to integrate new vulnerability checks and scanning capabilities into operational workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in automated vulnerability scanning environments.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability scanning tools and platforms (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Nuclei, etc.).
- Experience with vulnerability management and vulnerability detection techniques.
- Familiarity with network protocols and infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience resolving scanning-related issues in a live environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple customer scanning operations while maintaining a high level of accuracy and adherence to timelines.
- Experience with scripting (e.g., Python) for automation and workflow improvements is a plus.
