Work on project team with other developers and creatives to design, develop and test complex applications for Android devices. Implement user interfaces that combine simplicity, features, usability and responsiveness. This position has a good functional understanding of Android development. May be the lead on projects occasionally and can work independently. Work at a faster and more developed pace than an Entry Level Developer. This position should be on a development track to move to the next level within 6-12 months.

What Your Next Opportunity Looks Like

  • Write code and design systems using Eclipse and Android SDK
  • Maintain and modify existing applications on own as well as under direction from Team Lead and Project Manager
  • Perform maintenance programming for existing versions
  • Assume responsibility for ongoing data architecture for product
  • Test own work for consistency  
  • Maintain confidentiality of client credentials, Facebook, components of statistical work, client documents and interfacing of their systems
  • Monitor and track the latest developments and direction of mobile platforms
  • Work closely with other developers to design, develop, test, implement and support new front-end applications, systems and tools

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • May lead on project occasionally and perform code reviews
  • On the job training and research
  • Work on Google docs, wiki videos and other special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or 5 years of professional development experience
  • 1+ years of Android development experience
  • 1+ years of Java development experience (can be concurrent with degree)

Key Competencies

  • Skilled in Eclipse
  • Thorough knowledge of Android development
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong communication skills with a high emphasis on the ability to explain technology in business terms and to express opinions clearly in a straightforward manner
  • Self-driven and self-managed with the ability to operate effectively with minimum oversight
  • Ability to make decisions regarding code building and knowledge of system design
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, very team-oriented environment
  • Have a passion for technology and follow industry best practices
  • Regular attendance at work is required for successful performance

Preferred Skills

  • Fluent with Eclipse, XML, JSON, and Java
  • Previous development experience with Android SDK or other mobile platforms
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Significant contribution to at least 2 Android applications available in Google Play or Amazon Appstore
