What you’ll do We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Medical Reasoning to join the Medical Reasoning team in AI & Data. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Medical Reasoning, your mission will be to work on developing cutting-edge AI solutions that enhance clinical decision-making and support healthcare professionals in their daily practice. You will be working in a feature team developing AI systems that can understand medical knowledge, reason through complex clinical scenarios, and assist medical practitioners in providing better care. Working in the tech team at Doctolib involves building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. We work in feature teams in an agile environment, while collaborating with product, design, and business teams. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and implement novel architecture approaches to enhance reasoning capabilities in medical language models
  • Develop and optimize algorithms for medical knowledge representation and clinical reasoning
  • Create frameworks for medical agents that can assist healthcare professionals with evidence-based insights
  • Implement effective evaluation methodologies to assess medical reasoning performance and factual accuracy
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to translate medical knowledge into computational models
  • Build systems that can explain their reasoning process to ensure transparency and trust with medical users
  • Deploy your algorithms in production guided by our ML platform team
Who you are

Before you read on, if you don't have the exact profile described below, but you feel this job description matches your skill set, we still encourage you to apply.
  • You have a Ph.D. degree (preferred) or MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Medicine, or a related field. Publications as first author in top-tier AI/ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, or relevant medical informatics venues are a plus
  • You have at least 5 years of experience working with language models, with demonstrable focus on reasoning capabilities and knowledge representation
  • You have a proven track record of implementing and fine-tuning large language models (LLM) with domain-specific knowledge
  • You have expertise in developing robust evaluation frameworks for assessing model performance in high-stakes domains
  • You are proficient with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, or JAX
Now it would be fantastic if you have:
  • Strong understanding of medical data privacy and security requirements
  • Experience with medical data, terminology, and healthcare workflows
