The Position

The Engineering Manager (EM), Cloud Platform & SRE is responsible for leading our Cloud Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering, and Developer Tooling efforts. This role will manage our high-performing DevOps & SRE engineers, ensuring our cloud platform, developer tools, observability stack, and incident response systems support the company's needs.
This EM will guide individual and team development, as well as drive operational excellence.  They will participate in defining technical strategy, in collaboration with technical leaders in the team and across Engineering, and ensure our cloud and infrastructure investments align with company goals.    

What You'll Do

  • People Leadership & Team Development
    • Manage and mentor a team of Cloud Infra & SRE engineers, fostering a strong technical culture and ensuring high-impact execution.
    • Promote an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture, focusing on coaching, mentorship, and professional development.
    • Plan hiring and capacity growth, ensuring the team can support increasing traffic, reliability, and infrastructure needs.
    • Develop a scalable team structure, identifying opportunities to split and grow sub-teams as the platform evolves. 
  • Technical Strategy & Cloud Infrastructure Leadership
    • Partner with CTO, VP of Engineering, and Lead Architect to define a long-term cloud strategy, ensuring we optimize for scalability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
    • Develop AWS infrastructure best practices, ensuring compliance, security, and cost optimization.
    • Partner with the Director of IT Security & Infrastructure to ensure a strong security posture across cloud services.
    • Drive the adoption of SRE best practices, ensuring SLAs, observability, and incident response mechanisms are in place.
    • Evaluate and introduce Developer Tools to enhance, for example, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and infrastructure automation.
  • Operational & Financial Oversight
    • Own AWS, Datadog, and other infrastructure vendor relationships, ensuring we optimize to balance cost and performance.
    • Track SLOs, SLAs, and key infrastructure KPIs, ensuring service availability meets business needs.
    • Partner with Finance and Engineering Leadership to forecast and manage cloud spend, ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Delivery
    • Work closely with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure our infrastructure supports business growth and innovation.
    • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and Directors to ensure alignment across platform engineering and application teams.
    • Own project management processes for the team, ensuring initiatives are scoped, prioritized, and delivered effectively.
    • Translate company strategy into a 12-month roadmap for Cloud Infra, SRE, and Developer Tools in collaboration with the team and Lead Architect.

 

What You'll Need

  • Proven leadership experience managing DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Platform teams.
  • Experience building and leading diverse, high-performing engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, infrastructure automation, and observability tooling to empower developers
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles, including incident response and service reliability.
  • Experience managing cloud financials (AWS, Datadog, GitHub, etc.) and optimizing cloud costs.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate technical needs into business terms.

Bonus Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience as a software developer, DevOps engineer, or cloud architect before transitioning into leadership
  • AWS certifications or equivalent cloud infrastructure expertise.
  • Background in SaaS environments with high availability and compliance needs.

This position is based out of our Atlanta office and will require that you come into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
