Junior .NET Developer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking a Junior Software Developer to support the development of a Marine Corps software platform's modernized .NET Core architecture. The Junior Developer will work under the guidance of senior team members, focusing on implementing new features, fixing bugs, and learning best practices in software development. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated developer to gain hands-on experience in cloud-based software engineering. This position requires a Secret Clearance and is based in the Washington D.C. metro area, with on-site requirements as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the development of .NET Core applications, working alongside senior developers.
• Write and maintain C# code, following best practices and coding standards.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with backend services.
• Work with SQL databases (AWS RDS – SQL Server, PostgreSQL), writing queries and learning optimization techniques.
• Participate in code reviews, receiving feedback and learning from more experienced developers.
• Troubleshoot bugs and contribute to debugging and software testing efforts.
• Develop foundational .NET Core programming skills by assisting senior developers in feature implementations and debugging tasks.
• Work towards independent development of small-scale features, progressively increasing technical responsibility.
• Actively participate in technical discussions, seeking mentorship and expanding expertise in cloud-based development.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 0-3 years of experience in .NET Core development with C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Familiarity with RESTful API development and basic SQL queries.
• Basic understanding of Git for version control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn from senior developers.
• Secret Clearance required.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker, AWS Fargate).
• Experience with unit testing (xUnit, NUnit).
• Interest in Agile software development practices.
